An overview of my services:
MANUSCRIPT
EVALUATION
My goal is to help you either refine your manuscript via self-editing,
or determine whether it's ready to market or needs further work. An
evaluation can be stand-alone or included as part of my editing
services. I thoroughly read the manuscript and report on its strengths
and weaknesses. In most cases, I offer ideas and suggestions on how to
bolster content and improve problem areas in the writing.
COPYEDITING
AND PROOFREADING
The project scope can be anything from a single-page query letter to a
book manuscript. I correct spelling, punctuation, grammatical errors and
inconsistencies. Tweak word choice, sentence construction and verbosity,
adjust to clarify meaning, and polish the language. Give a final pass to
finely hone a manuscript for submission/publication. I also make
suggestions on a graph-by-graph or chapter-by-chapter basis to tighten
structure, improve flow and generally finesse the overall text.
CREATIVITY
COACHING
This can take the form of a personalized writing workshop with your work
as the only project, or simply a hand to hold through the creative
process. My specialty areas are nonfiction, creative nonfiction,
personal essay and feature writing — yet the
mechanics and process of writing are universal. You determine what you
wish to accomplish, and our time together will focus on that. It can be
anything from overcoming writer's block and brainstorming, to on-going
support and suggestions to get you through the entirety of your project.
 PUBLIC RELATIONS
AND PROMOTIONAL CONSULTING
My consulting is geared towards helping you do something with your
excellent prose once it's written. I draw on 20-plus
years of education and experience in advertising, public/media
relations, promotion/product positioning, special events planning,
publications/book production, marketing research and public speaking. We
can discuss how to promote yourself/your work, how to find a literary
agent/publisher, and how to plan a book tour, among other topics. If
you're considering self-publishing, I can guide you to avenues for doing
so and walk you through the production/design/printing process.
Fees contingent on level of editing required and length of project.
Estimates are free.

"When I
decided to write my first book, I had many questions and doubts about
writing and getting published. From the very first time I met with Gina, she
took the time to explain how attainable my goals were and how the
self-publishing industry works. I am very pleased with the professional
editing work she did on my manuscript. Her insights, positive suggestions
and comments enabled me to rewrite in a more cohesive manner and incorporate
overlooked points in my presentation of the material to make it more
accessible to the reader. I would definitely recommend her to authors who
care about the quality of their work." -- Carole J. Obley, author of

editing of my writing gives me great encouragement and high expectations.
Gina has a very gifted grasp of the art of writing and is very personable in

for me." -- Sandra Hughes McDevitt, founder, Emotional Intelligence
